MILLER'S 2002 MISSION: MRS. T'S TRIATHLON
I am now a member of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training Program! As a member, I have committed to completing a triathon!! Yes thats right, a TRIATHLON! (and no I am not insane in the membrane!)I chose the flat, fast and furious Sprint distance course which includes a ½ mile swim, 13-mile bike and 3-mile run. August 25, 2002 is the date that I will take on this challenging mission in Chicago where I will participate with THE TEAM in Mrs. T's Triathlon. Woo hoo!!!! Yes, I am unexplainably excited to be doing this mission and also proud to be participating in this event for a great cause: to help find a cure for leukemia.
WHY?? Leukemia is the number one disease-killer of children under 15, and lymphoma is the leading killer of men and women under 35. Leukemia takes the lives of 57,000 people each year. There is no way to prevent leukemia, but it can be treated effectively. This will be a challenge for my mind and body and that is why I need your help. As you can imagine, I am facing months of intense training to prepare myself. My goal is to raise a minimum of $3,800. Seventy-five percent of monies raised will go directly to research for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's lifesaving programs. This year's, Team in Training honorary teammate is 11-year old Michael D'Amico. At the age of six, Michael was diagnosed with high risk Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). Through intensive treatment, including chemotherapy, I am happy to say that Michael has been in remission since February 1998. You can see a picture of him by clicking on "photos" on the left. You can help us find a cure as this fight against blood-related cancers must and will continue! Now is your 'time and chance' to make a difference!! Please consider giving whatever you can give, and make a donation. Your donation is 100% tax deductible and will go toward's supporting the Society's programs of research, patient aid, and education. It is through unique individuals like you that The Society is one step closer to finding a cure. That's it for now. I have to get back to training :)!
